This beautiful house was built in 1907, set in three acres of garden and woodland, in the pretty village of Mellor. The charity that runs the house is set up, primarily, to offer short breaks to groups, families, carers, who could not otherwise have a break.
There are 11 bedrooms (most with 2+ single beds), with a well equipped kitchen, dining room and lounges. Outside, the grounds include a beautiful garden for the yoga sessions (weather permitting) paved patio with barbecue, and an open fire area.
Mellor is on the edge of the Peaks, and lovely walks are available from the door.
This is a cheaper retreat as the accommodation is more basic than the hotels/retreat centres I use, and there is no restaurant, so I will be providing the catering except the Saturday evening where we will visit the local pub (meal price included in the holiday price, but please pay for your own drinks).
The retreats held here will consist of the 5 yoga classes (in the garden weather permitting), a gong bath, candle gazing, yoga nidra, fire in garden (weather dependant)and walks, that I offer plus other practitioners will be invited to offer activities such as Cacao ceremony/Manadala drawing/Shamanic drum workshop/Ayurvedic workshops/healthy cooking/journaling etc. Each retreat will be slightly different, and primarily offered to returning students.
The cost of this retreat is £290 per person, £270 for returning students.
The address is Mellor Country House, Longhurst Lane, Mellor, Stockport SK6 5PP. It can be hard to find, there is a sign pointing up the driveway, but it can be obscured by trees.
